OceansBio has been selected for the first batch of the ‘KDB Next ONE Busan’ program.

On July 9, Korea Development Bank (KDB) held an orientation and program launch event at the newly established KDB NextONE Busan, located on the 9th floor of the Southeast Investment Finance Center building in Busan. The event was attended by representatives from 17 promising startups selected for the program.

KDB NextONE, which launched in July 2020, is an incubator program aimed at nurturing early-stage startups. To extend the venture ecosystem beyond the Seoul metropolitan area, KDB opened the Busan branch of the program in June 2024, following its first location in Mapo, Seoul.

OceansBio was chosen as one of the 17 outstanding startups from a pool of applicants, overcoming stiff competition with a selection ratio of approximately 7:1. The selection process involved a rigorous two-stage assessment, including document review and oral interviews. The startups selected for the first cohort will receive substantial support from KDB, including office space, dedicated mentoring, IR consulting, and participation in Demo Day. Additionally, the program offers support for securing investment and expanding into global markets, helping the startups achieve tangible growth.

OceansBio has recently intensified its efforts toward global commercialization. In August, the company plans to conduct market research in Baltimore and the East Coast, as well as San Francisco, and engage in strategic partnership meetings. They will also participate in a local workshop under the 500 Global's Global Launch Program.

As part of its strategy to secure a foothold in the U.S. market, OceansBio has established a corporation and moved into the KOSME Global Business Center in New York. The company is actively pursuing business partnerships and overseas expansion, believing that its selection for KDB NextONE Busan's first cohort will serve as a crucial stepping stone for its global ambitions.
